3 Day Bear View from King Salmon
The Bear Treks are designed for the focus of finding, viewing and photographing the world’s largest concentrations of Brown Bears located in Katmai National Park and Preserve, Becharof National Wildlife Refuge and Kodiak Island.
The adventures begin in the closest town to Katmai National Park King Salmon, located on the Alaska Peninsula just 300 Air Miles from Anchorage. Guests arrive vis Pen Air or Alaska Airlines to King Salmon to begin their Trek.
From here the trek follows 3 days of exploring by air the refuges and nationals parks where these fascinating animals exist. Each day pilot guides will discuss which area will be most promising for bear viewing with considerations being made to the weather and guest interests.
Katmai National Park is located on the Alaska Peninsula and covers hundreds of miles of rugged coastlines, glacier filled valleys and mountainous terrain. The area boast some of the world’s largest concentration of Brown Bears. We will visit the famous Brooks Falls to see and experience the bears feeding on salmon in the Brooks river between Brooks lake and Naknek lake. There are numerous places to visit to view bears in this park. Each week present s a new set of circumstances and with our private guided tours we can go exactly where the bears are.
On Day two of three we visit Kodiak Island. The Kodiak Island Archipelago is a group of islands located in the Gulf of Alaska about 30 miles east of the Alaska Peninsula, and 250 air miles southwest of Anchorage. The island group is approximately 177 miles long and 67 miles across, extending from the Barren Islands in the north, to Chirikof Island and the Semidi Islands in the south. The Archipelago encompasses approximately 5,000 square miles of land. “Kodiak Island’s 3,588 square miles make it the second largest island in the United States (only the island of Hawaii is larger).”*
Daily fly outs will include landing to view bears in their natural habitat near streams and shorelines while they feed and search for fish and other food. Feel safe and secure with your professional pilot wilderness guide whom has spent days upon days in the field. Photographic opportunities are excellent and unique to each day in the field.
Dinner and overnight accommodations will be arranged for three nights at quality B&B’s or lodges in and around King Salmon, Alaska.
Day 1: King Salmon – Katmai National Park Brooks Camp
Day 2: Kodiak – Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
Day 3: King Salmon – Becharof National Wildlife Refuge

Includes Private Air Charter daily for 3 days with pilot/guide, overnight accommodations in a quality lodge or B&B property, all meals, gear bag and hats, guides for bear viewing, park fees.
